Jaguar F-Pace luxury SUV-The Ultimate Practical Sports Car!

Jaguar, from Tata Owned JLR has been focusing on luxury sedans and sports cars all these years while LandRover was focused on premium SUVs. LandRover has some of the most capable and widely respected luxury SUVs that offer ultimate off road ability, luxury and safety. I was once privileged to experience the luxury SUVs of Landrover under #LandRoverExperience. If you are every in a life and death situation, trust me, Land Rover is the vehicle you would prefer to be in.

Recently Jaguar has launched its own SUV. Named F Pace. While F Pace is already on sale in select global markets, in India it was only unveiled in Auto Expo. Retail sale has not begun yet as per my understanding, though specs are available on Jaguar's India website. However last week in a Hong Kong mall, I spotted all JLR cars on display. F Pace was the main attraction as I was seeing it for the first time. Naturally I took out the camera and took some pictures.

F-Pace is positioned as "The Ultimate Practical Sports Car" - thus F pace is looking to retain its ties with the 'car' aspect  of Jaguar and doesn't intend to enter the LandRover territory of hard core cold blooded go anywhere SUVs that have USP of being the ultimate choice for luxury + safety+ off Road-ability.

F Pace is available in about 4 variants- First Edition, Prestige, R Sport. The ex-showroom price in India is expected to be between 70 lakhs to 1 crore. (Add about 30-50% for on road price). In Hong Kong mall, the First Edition trim was priced HKD 11,68,800, which is approximately  1 crore INR. My guess is there are some extra charges there too, like in India (such as tax, insurance etc), because I saw display that indicated that retail price can be shared on request.

First Edition trim gets a 3 litre V6 petrol engine that delivers 380 PS power (@6500 rpm), has top speed of 250 kmph, 0-10 in 5.5 seconds and promises to deliver about 11 kmpl fuel economy. This is Hong Kong spec. India spec may vary and diesel may get preference here. In India Jaguar F Pace has to compete with BMW X5, Volvo XC90, Audi Q7 etc.

Second row space is not roomy enough in my opinion- may be it can be pushed back a bit for more space, since there is no 3rd row.

I wish all the best for the new Jaguar F Pace SUV.

The other car that caught my attention was the F type- a 2-seater sports car with a cute face
