Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar can be visited via Land Borders. Other countries need to be visited via flight only. No practical ferry service yet between India and Srilanka/Maldivies, but is expected soon.
In terms of flight cost, Srilanka, Nepal and Bangladesh will be cheapest to visit- with return tickets often available for under INR 10000 from nearest big cities like Chennai/Delhi/Kolkata.

Indonesia is added as one of its locations- Bandah Aceh is about 100 kms from India's south most post- Indira Point

Except Afghanistan and Pakistan I have visited all other neighbors. Afghanistan shares a small border with India which is now Pak Occupied Kashmir- so there's no real/practical border with India so practically it is not a neighbor though technically is. Pakistan we can't visit- very unlikely to get visa, no flights are operating between India and Pakistan right now either.

  1. #2 - No VISA needed if entering by road. All border towns with India have free access (remember our road-trip to Samdrup Jonkhar?) ;-)

#9 - A lot of Indians in fact do wish to visit Pakistan :)

  2. Please update Bangladesh visa information by adding Guwahati. Free to apply, physical submission needed (DEL/BOM/Kolkata or Agrathala or Guwahati). Bangladesh has a High Commission in Guwahati too. You can apply for any kind of visa there also.
